Angels to the Rescue
The world faces destruction again, but the angels come to the rescue.
The third world war has decimated the planet, and left communities lost, and living in the “dark ages” once more. Few pray to their deity. That was bad enough, but when the birth of His Son was forgotten, God wanted to start over again. He asked the archangels to come up with ideas before he sent an asteroid in the direction of Earth.
One man had not forgotten the true meaning of Christmas. The archangel, Michael, pointed to him as an example of a good person who could be one of God’s prophets.
Michael and Ariel were sent to give the message on Christmas eve.
My story is about angels that come to the rescue, not only for Christmas, but for the heart of the whole world in this post-apocalyptic era.
Part of the Story
Decisions in Heaven
Uriel, one of the archangels, flew to the high plains where the Holy One, and His Son resided. He was the smallest of the archangels, and his little wings fluttered like a hummingbird. Uriel easily transcended the heights he needed to go.
He arrived, and landed with a soft sigh. He walked down a wide, white hall. It was open to the sky. This was his favourite place to be, other than in the presence of his Creator.
Finally, Uriel entered a large garden. It had a large imposing tree in the center of it. So large that you couldn’t see the ends of the branches, or how high it was. The trunk was big and sturdy with roots showing here and there. It had no likeness on Earth.
God sat under it in a meditative pose, while Jesus paced. This was the first time Uriel saw Jesus looking worried. Since the angel had been created millions of years ago, he had seen Jesus only look happy, and serene. Of course, there was that time on the cross, but that was a microcosm in time.
Uriel bowed his head, “it seems there is no consensus yet, my Lords. Many would prefer to be done with the place, and start anew.”
“No,” Jesus said. The sharpness of His tone was unexpected. He stopped in front of Uriel. “There must be a way.”
“It is not up to me, Lord.”
God opened his eyes. “Son, there might not be a way. Even I cannot see a single future for my creation. I gave them free will. There are so many variables, which is why I decided to see if the angels could come up with some ideas.”
“I know, Father.”
“Go back, Uriel, and keep listening, and reporting. I do not want a repeat of the situation where a third of my angels, and an archangel rebelled. And, I really don’t want to destroy my creation because of it.”
“Yes, my Lord.” Uriel bowed.
As he fluttered down to the angelic realm, Uriel mused about the difficult situation. He took God’s Word seriously. He was created for it. God also has free will, he thought, and He could destroy or create anything He pleases. He loved humanity for thousands of years. But prayers are feeble and rare these days. What’s a God to do? Uriel shook his head. He couldn’t say.
